OBITUARY

JIM JONES, 11.12.1923 – 27.10.2010

Jim Jones passed away peacefully on 27th October 2010, aged 86. He made a final and frail appearance with his beloved morris side at The Harp Inn, Wirral, on the ‘banks of the Dee’ on 26th July 2010 where he managed to accompany the music with his tabor, a familiar sight in recent years since he had become too weak to dance.  [Read More]

Our income from group subscriptions and adverts was £56. Our expenditure which comprised of postage, printing MAD news, affiliation to EFDSS and AGM expenses was £102.89.

John said that there would be no need for a group subscription in 2009/10. John thanked Bob Lightfoot for auditing the accounts.

He also apologised for a printing error in the Spring 2009 issue of MAD news when one page was printed twice and another omitted.

Ian Arthur proposed that the accounts be accepted and Renie Hordley seconded the proposal. The accounts were accepted on a unanimous vote.

The two proposals for using the surplus money generated during 2008 were then discussed.

The first proposal to make a one off none returnable donation of £100 to all eight groups in Mersey & Deeside was carried as was the proposal that the residue of the surplus money should be kept in reserve to be used for specific projects which will benefit the district as a whole.

Mary reported that David Haynes has been engaged as webmaster for the district's web site. He will receive an initial fee for restructuring the site as www.madfolk.org.uk and an annual fee for maintaining the site for as long as is mutually agreeable. Initial reaction to the new site is very positive. Mary thanked Gerry Jones for his work on the web site.
